Vintage racing.
Round six, Cadwell Park, 24 July 2005.

Although the racing is only held on the sunday there is track action all weekend as the Trident & Rocket 3 Owners Club host their popular Beezumph rally on the friday and saturday. We arrived early saturday afternoon and caught the tail end of the Beezumph. I wish that i hadn't left my camera at home as there were some very tasty T150 & T160 specials being thrashed around the track.

The vintage racing on the sunday was hampered by rain and CCMCC members Neil Bartle and Zoe Reynolds (650 BSA A10 sidecar outfit number 69) were again plagued by a missfire at higher revs. All in all another dissapointing weekend because all of the hard work that had gone into getting the outfit ready the previous week seemed to make no improvement from previous meetings. From a spectators viewpoint, Cadwell is not as view friendly as somewhere like Lydden and in the rain not good at all.

Round 7 & 8 Anglesey, 6/7 August.

On the way to Anglesey, Neil and myself took a detour into Birmingham to pick up some BSA spares from C & D Autos. Visiting this shop is like going back in time, a proper old bike shop with no smarmy suit clad salesman trying to sell you useless rubbish that you don't want. Instead, C & D is staffed by two very friendly brothers who know BSAs inside out and are more than happy to chat while taking an interest in what you are riding. A pleasure doing business with you.
The journey to Anglesey takes you through some of the most breathtaking scenery Wales has to offer. The weather also helped as the whole weekend was spent in glorious sunshine.
At the track, we were all hopeful as on the previous Wednesday Neil's A10 was sounding healthy after changing the Boyer ignition black box. All hope was short lived  as a very upset Neil and Zoe returned after first practice on Saturday to report that the misfire was back. Saturdays races were spent at the back while everyone pulled away leaving them for dead. Neil then decided to try switching to methanol as all other ideas had failed. After changing the carburetor to one that been set to run on methanol, Neil and Zoe went out in the scratch race and came back with big smiles as the A10 was now running better than ever. A very big thank you to Paul Grayson (sidecar outfit number 58, BSA A10) for the lease of some methanol for the scratch race and some much needed advice on setting up the carburetor.

Sundays races went well with Neil and Zoe finishing higher up the field than in previous meetings. Another big thank you goes to Roger Mitchell (number 200, BSA C15 & BSA B40) for the lease of some methanol for Sundays races. Rogers B40 suffered a blow up on Saturday which reduced the piston to shrapnel, snapped the gudgeon pin and left the barrel needing to be re-sleeved. This was such a shame as prior to the blow up the B40 was going well.

The strangest event of the weekend was when Lyndon was possessed by the devil and horns that resembled ice cream cones grew out of his head!.

Next and final meeting, Cadwell Park 3 / 4 September 2005
