Six riders left the Live and Let at 0815 for the breakfast run to Wally's café, led of course by Pete. It was going to be another fine day the weather being unusual once again and giving us sunshine instead of the normal wet stuff and we were out again on our fine (mostly) British motorcycles. We all arrived at Wally's about 0900, full breakfasts where the order of the day and with the café fairly empty we didn't have to wait long for the fairly priced feed. Unfortunately some one (conveniently?) forgot their wallet, didn't they Curly.

After breakfast we made the short ride to the Monks Eleigh Bygone Collector Club Rally which was is on the old Waldingfield airfield site. Winding pass the stalls and exhibits we found the motorcycle pitch positioned conveniently next to the beer tent and beside trees giving us the much required shade as it was already starting to be another hot day. There was a good turn out of motorcycles and some interesting exhibits and displays especially the towing display, which ended up with a single cylinder tractor towing two large vehicles to the total weight of 28 tons! The beer tent was well organised with no waiting and they had a load of the required drinking matter. The food wagon was the usual over priced set up often found at events like this.

After the usual wonder around, beer, food more beer it seemed a long wait for the motorcycle parade at about two thirty, with some simply get their heads down for a few hours, didn't they Curly. The bike line up in the arena was commentated on by a nice chap who didn't know too much about motorcycles especially Ariels, Triumphs, BSA's etc etc. A 1939 Rudge owned by a Mr John Fisher had just come back from the TT where it/he embarrassingly picked up 9 out of the 12 trophies presented by the VMCC. After the ride around the ring we chugged back to the display area to learn that our member Ted had won best in show for his very un-restored Motoconfort - well done Ted! A great little day out, great weather, pleasant company and a nice little trip back with Bernie seeing double when he was overtaken by the same motorcycle twice on the way home, all good fun!
