Isle of Wight
Easter 2006

Whilst out walkabout this Easter, I found myself on the Isle of Wight and happened across a couple of interesting events. At Ventnor on the Sunday, I unearthed a couple of useful finds at a small autojumble, and upon re-emerging into the sunlight, found parked outside, a brace of BSAs: the Bantam, bar some minor fettling was in its “as recently found” state. On the Monday, I found a classic vehicle show with which to further enthral the accompanying memsahib and offspring. There was a fine showing of vehicles and machinery, including steam power, and a ploughing match with vintage tractors. The motorcycles comprised a fine mix of restored and used machinery. A very nice old Ariel and an ‘honest’ well used Beeza, particularly caught my eye. To the general background accompaniment of “you’ve been looking at that for ten minutes......how can a lump of metal be so interesting..... I want to go to.... etc, etc”, a most enjoyable afternoon was passed. ~ Curly ~
